Picking your own colors for an album

We made it easy to pick your own palette for your Memory Album.

How to set your own colors

  1. Open your Album and find the theme strip near the top of the page.
  2. Click the Custom box at the start of the row. It opens right there to reveal a design bar.
  3. On the left of the bar, pick a Layout — seven arrangements for your photos and stories.
  4. Next come your five colors. Each swatch is labeled so you always know what you're changing: Text, Background, Main color, Pattern accent, and Pattern detail. Tap any swatch and pick the color you'd like.
  5. Your changes save automatically, and the page updates live as you experiment.

Adding a background pattern

Your custom background starts out a clean, solid color. If you'd like a little texture, look to the right side of the design bar: you can pick from twenty gentle patterns — stars, florets, waves, and more — each drawn in your own colors. Choose Plain any time to go back to the simple background.

We'll handle the small stuff

You only pick five colors. The rest of the look — the hover states, the link colors, the borders, even the contrast between text and buttons — adjusts itself so everything stays readable.

Not sure where to start? Try "Surprise me"

If picking five colors from scratch feels daunting, tap Surprise me in the design bar. We'll apply a fresh, good-looking palette right away — every combination is picked to look great together and stay easy to read. Keep tapping until one catches your eye. Your background pattern stays exactly as you left it, and you can fine-tune any individual color afterward as usual.

Want to start over?

Tap Reset next to the color swatches. Your five colors return to our starting palette, and you can begin again.

Switching themes later

Your colors stay with the Album. You can try a different Custom layout, or take a break with one of our prepared themes, and your colors will be waiting when you come back.
