Adding Premium to a circle
Start a subscription or buy Premium months and years for a circle, and what happens when the circle is free, has time left, or already has a subscription.
Two ways to add Premium
Any active member can add Premium to a circle. It covers everyone in the circle. The circle stays the owner's, and a subscription stays with the person who pays for it.
On a free circle, choose Add Premium, then pick how to pay:
- Subscription. It renews on its own, and you can cancel any time. Choose Monthly or Yearly, tagged Best value. The price is shown before you pay, and Premium is priced per circle.
- One-time payment. You can also buy months or a year once, with nothing renewing.
If the circle already has Premium, choose Add Premium Months. You add months and years with a one-time payment.
You can also start from My Account. Under Your circles' Premium status, choose Add Premium beside a free circle, or Add more months beside a Premium one. If you pay for a circle's subscription, you'll see Manage there instead, which opens Stripe.
If you have free months, the button offers to use them instead. You can use them on their own, or together with months you buy.
Buying months and years once
Use the plus and minus buttons to set the number of months and years. A circle can add up to 11 months at a time. If you reach a twelfth month, it becomes one more year and the months drop back to 0, because the yearly price is lower. You'll see a note when we adjust your purchase.
Your total is shown before you pay. Tap the button that starts with Pay to finish. If your bank asks you to confirm the payment, follow its instructions.
Paying with free months
If you have free months, the sheet shows how many you have. Using them and buying months are two separate choices.
- Choose how many of your free months to use.
- If you like, add months or years to buy on top. Buying costs the same as it does without free months. Your free months never change the price.
- Check what you're adding and the date Premium runs until, then confirm. If you're only using free months, there's nothing to pay. Months or years you buy are charged once to your card.
Your free months come first: Premium runs on them, then on the months you bought. They leave your balance when you place the order.
While free months are applied, you can't choose a subscription yet. You can start one after your free months have run out.
If the circle has a subscription, all the months you add, free and bought together, push its next renewal later. For more, see Using your free months.
What happens next
It depends on where the circle stands today.
- The circle is free. Premium starts today.
- The circle has Premium time left, with no subscription. Your addition begins on the day the current Premium runs out. Months you buy are added to the end of the time already there. A subscription can start once the current Premium ends.
- The circle has a subscription. You can add months, and a subscription can't be started twice. The months you add push the renewal later. For example, a circle that renews on March 3 with two months added will renew in May instead.
Who sees what
Everyone in the circle sees that it's Premium. Only the circle's owner and the person who paid see who paid. If you paid, you'll see Paid by you.
Receipts, cancelling, and refunds
Your receipt comes by email. A subscription renews until you cancel it in My Account. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and Premium runs to the end of the period you've paid for.
There are no refunds for time already purchased. Pausing a circle doesn't stop its subscription: cancel it in My Account if you want it to stop. Cancelling stops the renewal at the end of the period you've paid for. When a circle is paused, or its Premium is cancelled, months that haven't started yet aren't returned. Nothing anyone shared is ever deleted when Premium ends.
If the owner deletes a circle, its Premium ends straight away with no refund, and free months used on it aren't returned.
If something goes wrong
If the payment doesn't go through, the circle stays as it was. Try again in a little while, or reply to any email from us and we'll help.
If you used free months and your card is declined, they stay set aside so you can try again. If you don't finish paying for the months you're buying, your free months are put back in your balance. This can take a little while.
