Choose how you hear from your circle

Choose how often we email or text you about a Circle — the moment something happens, a daily or weekly summary, or not at all.

Catch up on notifications

The notifications inbox shows activity Across your account, even when you open it from one circle.

  1. Choose All to see all activity, or Mentions to see circle mentions. Choose All circles or one circle's name to narrow the list.
  2. Choose a notification to mark it read and open its page, when it has one.
  3. Choose Mark all account notifications read, when it appears, to clear unread activity across your account. Choose All notifications to open the full inbox.

The email and text choices below the inbox apply only to the circle you opened.

Two ways to keep up

By default, everyone in a Circle gets one email a week with a summary of everything shared. If that suits you, there's nothing to change.

You can also choose to be emailed when something happens, instead of waiting for the end of the week.

Where to change it

  1. Open your Circle.
  2. Choose Circle options, then Notifications.
  3. Pick what you'd like under Email, and again under Text messages.

There's no Save button. Your choice is kept as soon as you make it, and a short message confirms it.

What you can choose for email

Under When should we email you about this circle? you'll find:

  • Everything. An email each time something happens in this circle: a new post, or someone mentioning you. You'll get the weekly summary too.
  • New posts and mentions. An email for each new post and each time someone mentions you. You'll get the weekly summary too.
  • A daily summary. One email a day with that day’s posts.
  • A weekly summary. One email a week. This is what everyone starts with.
  • Nothing at all. No emails from this circle. You can still open it any time.

The first two add to the weekly summary rather than replacing it. To stop only the summary emails for one Circle, choose Stop emails from this circle at the bottom of its summary email and confirm. Other Circle emails and texts stay the same. The separate unsubscribe link stops ShareLocket emails globally.

Your choice is per Circle. If you're in more than one, you can hear about everything in one and keep the other to a weekly email.

What you can choose for text messages

Texts are separate, and they start switched off. Under When should we text you about this circle? you'll find:

  • A daily summary. One text a day with that day’s posts.
  • A weekly summary. One text a week with that week’s posts.
  • No texts. No text messages from this circle. This is what everyone starts with.

There's no per-post option for texts, so a busy afternoon can't fill up your phone.

You won't be flooded

If ten photos arrive at once on a busy afternoon, you will not get ten emails.

We gather up what's happened and send it together. If things stay busy, we switch to a summary once an hour, and go back to normal when it quiets down.

If someone mentions you in a post that also went to everyone, that's still one email, not two.

Quiet hours and pausing a circle

The summary unsubscribe link turns summaries off for that circle, including email and text summaries. Other notifications stay the same. You can turn summaries back on in the circle's Notifications.

A circle's Notifications include separate email choices for new moments, mentions, and summaries, and a text-message choice for summaries. Choose a daily or weekly summary, or turn summaries off. These settings apply only to your membership in that circle.

Quiet hours use your chosen time zone and hold notifications until those hours end. A pause suppresses new non-critical notifications until its end date; paused notifications are not saved up for later. Replies to your own messages, help, and required welcome messages can still arrive. Texting STOP continues to stop email and text summaries.

When you're mentioned

If someone writes your name with an @ in front of it, like @Nancy, you'll get an email about it and a notification. It only goes to the person who was mentioned, never to the person who wrote it.

You'll hear about a mention once the post is ready for everyone to see, not the instant it's typed. Photos may need time to finish processing first.

Turning it all off

A single switch in your profile turns off every email from ShareLocket at once, whatever you've chosen in each Circle. Nothing here overrides it.
