Open a photo full screen

Tap any photo in your Circle and it fills the screen. Tap the close button, or press Escape on a computer, to come back to where you were.

The people and place behind a photo

A photo's post can carry the names people have tagged, reactions from the Circle, and a place when one is known. Hidden posts keep those people and place details hidden too. A missing place does not mean the photo was taken nowhere — there may simply be no place to show yet.

Move between photos

When the whole photo is showing at Fit, swipe left or right to move through the rest of the Circle. On a computer you can use the arrow keys, or the back and forward buttons on either side of the picture.

Comment on one photo

When a post has several photos, open the photo you want to talk about and choose Comment, or its comments count. Under Comments on this photo, use Add a comment… to write your words. The conversation follows the photo as you move through the post. Words you have not posted stay with their photo while the viewer stays open; closing it or leaving the page drops them.

The small number on a photo in the summary post or the thumbnail strip counts the comments on that photo. The post's total includes its photo comments too. A post with just one photo has one conversation, headed Comments. Videos, GIFs, and files also use the post's conversation.

The post page has one conversation. A link such as On photo 2 of 5 opens that photo and its comments. If a photo is removed, its comments and replies are no longer shown and no longer count toward the post's total.

Zoom in on a detail

Pinch or double-tap to zoom on a phone or tablet. On a computer, double-click the photo or use your scroll wheel. You can also use the + and − buttons to take a closer look.

While zoomed in, drag the photo to look around. A small position map shows which part you are looking at. Choose Fit to see the whole photo again and swipe to the next one.

On a keyboard, use + and − to zoom, or 0 to return to Fit.

Save a photo to your own device

Open the post’s More menu and choose Download to save a photo or video. This saves the original file — the full-size one, exactly as it was shared, not a shrunken copy.

Anyone in the Circle can do this, not just the person who shared it.

A note or a link that has no photo or video attached has nothing to save, so no button appears on it.

Photos still being prepared

A photo that has only just arrived may say it is still being prepared. Give it a little while and check back.
