Manage your circle's posts and members

Edit or delete your own posts, invite or remove people, and share the right number with everyone.

Fixing or removing posts

You can edit or delete anything you've posted yourself, right from the website. The person who set up your Circle, and anyone they've made a co-admin, can also edit or delete other people's posts in the Circle.

Deleting a post

  1. On the post, choose the More button (the three dots).
  2. Choose Delete this post.
  3. We ask before anything is deleted. Check it's the right post, then choose Delete post. Choose Cancel if you'd rather keep it.

You'll also find Delete this post on the post's details page. To get there, choose Edit details in the same More menu.

Deleting a post can't be undone. Its comments and reactions are deleted with it.

If someone else deletes a post of yours, or one of its photos, we let you know in the app.

Deleting one photo from a post

When a post has several photos, you can delete just one and keep the rest. The same people who can delete the post can do this.

  1. Open the photo full screen, or find it on the post's details page.
  2. Choose that photo's More button (the three dots). In the full-screen view, it's at the end of the row under the photo.
  3. Choose Delete this photo.
  4. Choose Delete photo to confirm.

This can't be undone. Any comments on that photo are no longer shown. For a video, a GIF, or a PDF, the menu says so in place of "photo".

If a post has only one photo, the menu offers Delete this post instead, and the whole post is deleted.

When no other post, comment, draft, or album cover uses a deleted photo, its file is deleted and its saved address stops opening soon after. Posting it again means uploading it again. A photo taken down by moderation is kept until staff decide what to do. Copies someone has already saved, or that an email service or browser has cached, can't be taken back.

Tagging people in a photo

The people in a photo show on the photo itself. Everyone who has been named appears as a small round picture in the corner of the photo. A face nobody has named yet shows a question mark. Choose one to open that photo and see who's who, or to name them.

Open a photo full screen to tag the people in it. The small round pictures and question marks on the feed photo also open that photo.

  1. Open the photo full screen and choose Tag people.
  2. Tap a face, or drag a circle around someone.
  3. Type a name and choose the right person.

The tag saves as soon as you choose a name, and the name shows on the photo straight away. If you picked the wrong person, choose Undo straight away. When you're finished, choose Tag people again to stop tagging.

If anyone in a post is still not yet named, the line under the post says so. Choose it to go straight to the first face that needs a name. In the full-screen view, choose Who to see everyone's names on the photo.

Adding and managing members

If you started the circle or you're one of its admins, you can invite people from Members: choose Circle options, then Manage members. They don't need an app or an account to get an invitation.

  1. Find Add someone.
  2. Fill in Name (optional) to choose how their name shows up in the circle.
  3. Choose By email or By phone number and enter their email address or phone number.
  4. Choose Send invite.

To join from your invitation, open its link and create an account with the email address or phone number it was sent to. A circle invitation lets you sign up during private beta without a beta code. If you already have an account, you can accept any circle invitation without a code.

Admins can see Pending invites, including who sent each one, when it was sent, and a masked email address or phone number. Send it again replaces the old link; Take back frees its spot and makes the link unusable. An accepted invitation can't be taken back. Wait at least two minutes after the last send before choosing Send it again. You can send each invite again once per hour. The same email address or phone number can receive up to three circle invites in a day, across all circles.

Pays for the circle marks the member whose subscription pays for the circle. Only the circle's owner and the person who pays can see it. Changing who runs the circle doesn't transfer that subscription.

If the subscription is ending, the owner can choose who stays active from the people page. The default is the owner and the earliest people to join, up to the circle's free limit. Everyone keeps access until the subscription actually ends. The other people are then paused, with their posts and photos kept, and come back automatically when the circle is subscribed again. After it ends, turn someone off before turning someone else on. Admins can see paused people and the choices but cannot change them.

Only the person who started the circle can change someone's role. Use the dropdown beside their name to choose Administrator or Member. The change saves as soon as you choose it.

Choose Remove beside someone you can remove, then confirm. The person who started the circle can't be removed, and admins can't remove other admins. None of these changes are available in a closed circle.

To leave yourself, open My Account, choose that circle's tab and choose Leave this circle. You can only leave from there, not from the members page.

When someone is on a different number

Now and then one person is set up on a different number from everyone else; that's expected. Whoever set up your Circle can see who that is and pass on the right number, so they can save it and send their photos there.
