Change your picture without the app

If you're in a Circle, you can change your profile picture without opening the app. Send a photo the way you'd share any other, with one difference.

Setting it

1. Choose a photo of yourself.
2. Send it to your Circle's phone number, or to your own circle email address.
3. Type profile as the caption — just that one word.

We'll center the photo on your face and set it as your profile picture everywhere on ShareLocket: your albums, your comments, and every Circle you're in.

A quick confirmation

Once your new picture is set, we reply the same way you sent it — a text if you texted, an email if you emailed.

Sent more than one photo?

If your message had several photos, we use the first one. If that's not the one you wanted, send the right photo again on its own.

Changing your mind

Send another photo captioned profile to replace it, or go to Your Profile on the website to upload a photo and crop it yourself.

A few things to know

• Your photo can be up to 5 MB, in JPEG, PNG, WebP, or HEIC format. Other kinds of picture, like an animated GIF, can't be used as a profile picture, and we'll reply to tell you if you send one.
• Texting or emailing just the word "profile" with no photo doesn't set anything. We'll reply the same way you sent it, asking you to send a photo with it.
• A caption like "profile pic from the lake" is treated as a normal caption on a normal photo. Only the single word profile, on its own, sets your picture.

Need help?

If there's a problem with the photo you sent — it's too large, or isn't a photo we can use — we'll reply the same way you sent it to tell you, and your old profile picture stays until you try again. Still stuck? Use the Still stuck? Message us link at the bottom of the Help panel.
