The People page in your circle
See circle members and the people and pets named or tagged in posts, fix a name, and tell us when two entries are the same person, or not.
Members and people named or tagged in posts
Every active circle member has a page, even before anyone mentions them in a post. Choose their card under In the circle to open it. Their page includes posts they wrote, posts that mention them, and posts where they are tagged. Choose Manage members to manage the circle roster.
As people in your circle write to each other, ShareLocket gathers the people they mention — a neighbor, a coach, a friend from school. Opening a person's page shows you what your circle has said about them: their Posts, their Photos and videos (or Photos, videos, and voice messages when audio is included), and any collections they turn up in, shown under their name. People who are not circle members, and pets tagged in photos, appear under Named or tagged in posts · not in the circle. When there is room and the circle is open, owners and admins can choose Invite beside a person. Pets cannot be invited, and paused members must be restored before a circle without a subscription can invite someone new.
Everything on the page comes from your own circle's posts and tags. Nothing is brought in from anywhere else, and nothing you see here is visible outside the circle.
Fixing a name
- Open the person's page.
- Choose Rename.
- Type the name your circle actually uses. It saves when you press Enter or move on to something else, and you'll see Saved.
- Choose Close when you're done.
There's no Save button to press. Want a different name after all? Just type over it.
A name you set yourself stays set. It won't be changed back the next time someone writes about them.
Born dates, notes, and pets
On a person's page you can add when they were born under Born (a rough date like Spring 2019 is fine) and one short line about them under Note, like Golden retriever or Mom's sister. For someone who isn't a circle member, you can also turn on This is a pet. There's no Save button: the note saves as you type, the born date saves when you move on, and you'll see Saved. Everyone in the circle can see what you add.
When two entries are the same person
Sometimes the same person turns up twice — Rob in one post and Robert Hale in another. When we think that might have happened, the page shows a Same person? section with the two names side by side.
You get to answer either way, and both answers are real:
- Same person joins the two entries together. Their posts, photos, and collections all end up in one place.
- Different people tells us they are two different people. We will stop suggesting that pair.
Saying Different people is remembered. We won't ask about that pair again.
If something does not go through
Occasionally an answer cannot be saved. You will see a short message on the page explaining why. The most common reasons are that someone else in your circle has already joined the two entries, or that the circle has been closed. Nothing is lost; the answer just isn't needed any more.
Anyone in the circle can help
Correcting names and answering Same person? is open to every member, not just whoever started the circle.
