Can I undo something I sent by text?

When you'd rather that hadn't gone

Sent the wrong photo, or the blurry one? If you shared it with your Circle by text, you can take it back yourself with one word.

Taking it back

1. Text the word undo to your Circle's phone number.
2. Send nothing else with it — just that one word, on its own.

The last thing you sent comes off right away, and we'll text you back to confirm it's gone. If you sent several photos in one message, all of them come off together, because they were all part of the same message.

Removal cannot be undone. When nothing else uses a photo, its file is deleted and its saved address stops opening soon after. Posting it again means uploading it again. Photos taken down by moderation are kept until staff decide.

If you change your mind again

There's nothing to press to bring it back — just send the photo again, the same way you sent it the first time. It'll be back in the Circle in a moment.

It only takes back what you texted

Undo works on the last thing you sent, by text. It never touches anything anyone else shared, and it never touches something you sent by email or left as a voice message — those stay exactly where they are. If we can't find anything of yours to take back, we'll text you to say so, and nothing will have changed. If you try again a moment later, we won't keep repeating the same message back at you.

A few things to know

• It has to be the word on its own. A message like "can you undo the beach photo" is shared with the Circle as an ordinary message, not treated as taking something back.
• A photo sent with the word "undo" as its caption is shared as a normal photo with a caption. Undo is only ever a message with no photo attached.
• There's no time limit. You can take back the last thing you sent whenever you notice, not just in the first few minutes.
