What a circle subscription includes
What a circle subscription adds, how any member can start one, and what happens when it renews, is cancelled, or ends.
One subscription for the circle
One person pays for the whole circle. A subscription gives it room for more people, shows every post, and turns on albums and picture frames. The current price and member limits are shown before you pay.
Add a subscription
Any active member of the circle can add a subscription. The person who pays manages it from My Account.
- Choose Add a subscription from the circle's home page, its Members page, or Circle settings. You can also start from My Account for a circle you belong to.
- If asked, verify your email address and phone number.
- Check the yearly price, enter your card details, and finish the payment. If your bank asks you to confirm it, follow its instructions.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your receipt comes by email. When payment is confirmed, you'll see that the circle has a subscription.
Renewing or cancelling
It renews every year until you cancel. Cancel any time from My Account, and nothing is deleted.
If you pay for the subscription, open My Account and choose Manage subscription to update your payment details or cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your circle keeps its subscription until the end date shown.
If the person who pays leaves the circle or is removed, the subscription ends after its current paid period. Months that haven't started yet aren't returned, including when they were the last person in the circle and leaving closes it. A paused subscription, a subscription with an overdue payment, or an unfinished checkout is cancelled immediately. Any open invoice for the overdue subscription is voided, so there is nothing more to collect. We email the departing payer and the circle owner about an ending subscription. Nothing more is charged, and nothing is deleted.
If the subscription ends
We email the payer and the circle owner when the subscription is ending or has ended. If billing is paused, the subscription features switch off until it resumes, and nobody is removed or paused. If the payer has left the circle or deleted their account, the ending notice goes to the owner.
When the subscription ends, the circle goes back to its free limit of active people. The owner always stays. By default, the other spots go to the people who joined first.
Once an end date is known, the owner can choose who stays on the people page. After the subscription ends, turn someone off before turning someone else on. Admins can see the choices but only the owner can change them.
Other people are paused in this circle. They cannot open it, post, or receive its notifications or summaries, including by email, text, or voice. Nothing they shared is deleted. They return automatically when the circle is subscribed again, unless they have left or been removed. Paused people can still leave.
The circle shows posts from the past 30 days. Older posts aren't deleted. They become visible again when the circle has a subscription.
Existing albums stay available. Starting a new album needs a subscription. Picture frames pause, but stay listed and start showing photos again when the subscription returns.
You can still download your circle's full archive without a subscription.
If payment doesn't go through
If someone else in the circle is adding a subscription right now, try again in a little while. If the circle already has a subscription, whoever pays for it manages it from My Account. If the card on file didn't work, the person who pays can update it in My Account. If the subscription is paused, reply to any email from us and we'll restart it. If subscriptions aren't available right now, try again in a little while.
