How Do Notifications Work?
Learn how ShareLocket keeps you in the loop without overwhelming you.
Your Notification Center
The little bell icon at the top of the page is your notification center. When something needs your attention, a number will appear on the bell to let you know.
What you'll be notified about
- New memories — when someone adds a photo, video, or message to one of your albums.
- New comments — when someone leaves a comment on your album.
- New members — when someone you invited joins your album.
- Approval requests — when a guest wants to add something and needs your OK.
- Subscription reminders — a friendly heads-up before your editing subscription ends.
- Storage alerts — when your album is getting full and might need more space.
- Payment confirmations — when a payment goes through successfully.
Badges on your album cards
On your shelf, each album card can show its own badge number. For example, if one album has 4 pending approval requests, you'll see a "4" right on that album's card so you know exactly where to go.
How to handle notifications
- Tap the bell icon to open your notification list.
- Tap any notification to go directly to where you can take action.
- Use the Mark as Read button if you've seen it but don't need to act right now.
- Use Dismiss to clear it from your list entirely.
Don't worry — just opening the notification list won't make anything disappear. Your notifications stay until you decide what to do with them.
Smart grouping
If lots of people add to your album at the same time, we'll bundle those into one notification instead of flooding your inbox. For example, instead of 10 separate "someone added a memory" alerts, you'll see one that says "10 new memories have been added to your album."
Email and text message notifications
You can also receive notifications by email or text message. We're smart about it — if there's a sudden burst of activity, we'll wait a few minutes and send you one summary instead of dozens of individual messages.
To adjust what you receive, go to Site Settings and look for Notification Preferences.
