The Guest Book: let guests add to your album
The Guest Book lets the people you invite add their own photos, videos, and messages to an album. It's free, and you switch it on for each album.
What the Guest Book does
The Guest Book is the writable layer on your album. While it's on, everyone with permission — you, your co-editors, your invited members, and the guests you approve — can post messages, written stories, photos, videos, audio recordings, GIFs, and files together, and leave comments and reactions. Think of it as a book everyone can write in, not just sign.
Adding a GIF
When you tap the plus button in the Guest Book, one of the choices is Pick a GIF. Type a word or two, choose the GIF you like, and it'll be added to your post. GIFs are only available in the Guest Book — they don't appear in album posts or comments.
Starting the Guest Book
The Guest Book is free on every album made in your circle, and it is yours to switch on and off for each album whenever you like. There's no card to enter: it's simply a switch on the album.
Open your album, go to the Guest Book tab, and turn it on. Each album has its own switch, so you can keep one album's Guest Book open and another one closed.
Choosing how open it is
On the Guest Book tab you can choose:
- Only people I invite — your invited guests and active members of the album’s circle can join in.
- Invited + people who ask to join — anyone who finds the album can request access, and you review each request before they can post. (Only available when your album is set to public viewing.)
Other helpful toggles
- Text posts only. Choose this under "What can guests share with their message?" if you'd rather guests skip photos, videos, and GIFs and just leave a written note.
- Replies. Decide whether guests can reply to each other's Guest Book messages, or keep everything one-way. (Whether guests can comment on your album's own photos and stories is a separate choice on the Settings tab.)
- Guest Book on this album. Each album has its own on/off switch, so you can keep one album's Guest Book open and another one closed.
Storage
While the Guest Book is on, you'll see a little bar at the top of the Guest Book tab showing how much of your 20 GB of Guest Book space you've used so far. This is separate from the storage your own photos and videos use — your guests' messages, photos, and videos have their own room to grow.
Turning it off again
You can turn the Guest Book off any time from the same tab. When it's off, the Guest Book goes read-only for everyone — you, your co-editors, your members, and your approved guests all stop being able to post, comment, or react there until you turn it back on. Past messages, photos, videos, and replies all stay visible; nothing is ever deleted.
Your album itself is unaffected. You and your co-editors go on editing your own photos, videos, audio, and stories exactly as before.
