Requesting access to a private album

If the album is private and you're not on the invite list, you can ask the owner to let you in.

Requesting access to a private album

Some albums are kept private — only people the owner has invited can see them. If you've followed a link to a private album, you're signed in, and you're not yet on the invite list, you'll see a friendly page that lets you ask the owner to let you in.

How to request access

  1. Open the album link. If it's private, you'll see a "Request access" page instead of the album.
  2. Make sure you're signed in. If you're not, sign in first — the owner needs to know who's asking.
  3. Add a short note if you'd like (optional) — for example, "Hi! I'm Jane's cousin from the wedding."
  4. Tap Request access.

What happens next

The album owner will see your request in their Review queue and can either approve or decline it. We'll let you know either way.

  • If they approve you, you'll be able to open the album right away.
  • If they decline, you'll see a polite note that the owner couldn't add you this time.

You can only have one open request per album at a time. If you don't hear back, it's a good idea to reach out to the person directly — sometimes a friendly nudge is all it takes.

Tip: If the album is open to anyone with the link, you won't see this page at all — you'll go straight in.
