Managing tagged people on the People page
Tidy up the names in your album — rename someone, join two entries for the same person, or link a name to their account.
Where to find it
Open your album and go to People. Underneath the guests you've invited, you'll find a Tagged people section listing everyone who has been tagged in a photo or post — including people and pets who aren't members of the album at all.
Each name shows how many tags it has. Tap a name to see every photo and post that person appears in.
Only you and your co-editors see these tools, and only from the album's People page.
Renaming someone
Names get typed in a hurry, and that's alright. To fix one:
- Find the person in the Tagged people list.
- Tap Rename.
- Type the name you'd like and tap Save.
The new name appears everywhere that person is tagged, right away.
Joining two entries for the same person
If "Gran" and "Grandma Ruth" turn out to be the same lovely person, you can bring them together:
- Tap Merge next to one of the two names.
- Choose the name you'd like to keep.
- Confirm.
Every tag moves across to the name you kept, so nothing is lost.
Please take a moment before you confirm: merging can't be undone.
Linking a name to a member
Sometimes a name was typed in before that person joined the album. Once they're a member, you can connect the two:
- Tap Link to a member next to the typed-in name.
- Pick the member they really are.
- Confirm.
From then on, their tag simply follows the name on their account — so if they update it, your album keeps up on its own.
Names still waiting on an answer
Below the tagged people you'll see an Unidentified section: any open "Who is this?" questions still waiting for someone to say who's in the picture. Tap one to jump straight to that photo or post.
Tip: if someone would rather not be tagged at all, they can remove a tag of themselves any time — and nobody, not even you, can put it back. See Tagging people and pets in an album.
