What is a collection?
A collection gathers your circle's posts about one thing, like recipes or a trip. Here's where to find them and the ways to look at one.
This is for anyone in a circle. At the end, you'll know what a collection is, where to find one, and the different ways to look at it.
What a collection is
A collection gathers posts from your circle about one thing: recipes, a garden, a trip, letters from one person. A post stays where it is in the circle; the collection brings it together with others like it. One post can be in more than one collection.
Some collections are gathered by ShareLocket from what people post. Others are made by someone in the circle, who describes what belongs in it or picks the posts themselves. See How ShareLocket organizes your circle and Make, hide, and merge collections.
Find your circle's collections
- Open your circle and choose Collections & more.
- In the Collections row, choose a collection, or choose All collections to see every one.
Ways to look at a collection
Open a collection and choose a view from the buttons above it. Grid is always there. The others appear when the collection holds something they can show:
- Book: page through it in order. See Saving a collection as a book.
- Timeline: the posts in date order, when they have dates.
- Table: the details as rows and columns. See Tables in your circle.
- Chart and Map: amounts on a chart, or places on a map. See Charts and maps in a collection.
- Play: music and videos, one after another. See Music and videos in your circle.
- Details and Read: each item's details, or the words of each post to read straight through. See Reading a collection.
