When Premium ends

What changes when a circle's Premium ends: who stays active, older posts, sharing albums, and picture frames, and how to bring Premium back.

This is for anyone in a circle whose Premium is ending or has ended. Nothing anyone shared is deleted when Premium ends.

Before it ends

We email the person who pays and the circle's owner when Premium is ending, however the circle was being paid for: free months running out, a cancelled subscription, or a card that stopped working. The email names the date and explains what changes. We email again when it has ended. If the person who paid has left the circle or deleted their account, the email goes to the owner.

Once there's an end date, the owner chooses who stays active. On the circle's Members page, the owner uses the Stays switch beside each person. Once the free limit is reached, turn someone off before turning someone else on. Admins can see the choices, but only the owner can change them.

What changes

  • Room for fewer people. The circle goes back to its free limit of 10 people; the Members page shows the number for your circle. The owner always stays. The other spots go to the people the owner chose, or, if the owner didn't choose, to the people who joined first.
  • Everyone else's spot is paused. They can't open the circle, post, or get its emails, texts, or summaries. Nothing they shared is deleted. Their spot comes back on its own when the circle has Premium again, unless they leave or are removed. From the circle's settings, they can still leave, choose how much of their location the circle sees, or add Premium. Without Premium, someone whose spot is paused is turned back on before anyone new can join.
  • Posts from the past 30 days. Older posts aren't deleted. They show again when the circle has Premium.
  • Sharing albums. Sharing albums already made stay available. Starting a new one needs Premium.
  • Picture frames pause. They stay set up, and start showing photos again when Premium returns.

Bringing Premium back

Anyone in the circle can add Premium again, even someone whose spot is paused. When they do, paused spots come back and older posts show again. See Adding Premium to a circle.
