Who pays for Premium?

Premium covers everyone in a circle. One person holds its subscription, any member can add months, and only the owner and the payer see who pays.

This is for anyone in a circle who wants to know how its Premium is paid for.

Premium covers the whole circle

When a circle has Premium, everyone in it has Premium, whoever paid. Nobody else is charged.

Who can pay

  • A subscription. A circle can't have two subscriptions. The member who starts it holds it, it renews until they cancel, and only they can manage it.
  • Months added once. Any member can add Premium months with a one-time payment, or with their own free months, whether or not the circle already has a subscription. Months added to a subscription push its next renewal later.

You don't have to be the owner to start Premium on a free circle. See Adding Premium to a circle.

Who can see who pays

Everyone in the circle can see that it has Premium. Only the circle's owner and the person who pays can see who that is. On the circle's Members page, the payer's row says Pays for the circle, and in the circle's settings the payer sees Paid by you.

Managing a subscription

If you hold the subscription, open My Account and, under Your circles' Premium status, choose Manage beside the circle to update your card or cancel. See How do I cancel Premium?

When the owner or the payer changes

The payment stays with the person who pays. Handing the circle to a new owner doesn't move it, and the new owner isn't charged.

If the person who pays leaves the circle, their subscription is cancelled at the end of the period they've paid for, and everyone keeps Premium until then. If it's paused or a payment is overdue, it ends as soon as they leave. After that, anyone in the circle can add Premium again. See When Premium ends.
