What does "paused" mean?
Paused means one of three things: a paused circle, a paused spot for one member, or paused Premium. Here is how to tell which one you are seeing.
This is for anyone who has seen the word "paused" in a circle and wants to know what it means for them.
A paused circle
The circle's owner or an admin paused the circle, usually because it has run its course. Everything shared stays there to look through and download, and nothing new can be added. It stays on your home page, marked Paused. The owner or an admin can reopen it at any time. See Rename or pause a circle.
Your spot is paused
When a circle's Premium ends, it goes back to the number of people a free circle has room for. The owner always stays, and so do the people the owner chose, or the earliest to join. Everyone else's spot is paused.
While your spot is paused, you can't open the circle, post to it, or get its emails and texts. Nothing you shared is deleted, and your spot comes back on its own when the circle has Premium again. From Circle settings on the circle's card on your home page, you can still leave, choose how much of your location the circle sees, or add Premium. See When Premium ends.
Premium is paused
Now and then we pause a circle's Premium. Nobody is removed and nobody's spot is paused, but the circle has only what a free circle has until Premium restarts, and only we can restart it. See When a circle's Premium is paused.
