Delete a post or photo in your circle

Delete a post you shared, or one photo from it. The circle's owner and admins can delete anyone's post, and the person who posted it is told.

This is for anyone who wants to take something out of a circle. At the end, the post or photo is gone for everyone in the circle.

You can delete your own posts. The circle's owner and its admins can delete anyone's. Nothing can be deleted while the circle is paused.

Delete a post

  1. On the post, choose More (the three dots).
  2. Choose Delete this post.
  3. Check it's the right post, then choose Delete post. Choose Cancel to keep it.

You'll also find Delete this post on the post's details page. To get there, choose Edit details in the same menu.

The post's comments and reactions are deleted with it. If you delete someone else's post, they're told that you deleted it. This can't be undone.

Delete one photo from a post

  1. Open the photo full screen, or find it on the post's details page.
  2. Choose that photo's More button. In the full-screen view, it's at the end of the row under the photo.
  3. Choose Delete this photo, then Delete photo to confirm.

The rest of the post stays. Comments on that photo are no longer shown. For a video, a GIF, or a PDF, the buttons say so in place of "photo". If the post has only one photo, the menu offers Delete this post instead.

When no other post, comment, draft, or sharing album cover uses a deleted photo, its file is deleted and its saved address stops opening soon after. Posting it again means uploading it again. A photo taken down by moderation is kept until staff decide what to do. Copies someone has already saved to their own device, or that an email service or browser has cached, can't be taken back.

Tip: Sent something by text by mistake? Text undo to take back your last post. See Can I undo something I sent by text?
