Share a document in your circle

Post a PDF, or a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, to your circle by email or the website, and open or download one someone else shared.

This is for anyone who wants to share a document with their circle. At the end, everyone in the circle can open it or save a copy.

Sharing a document

A recipe, a scanned letter, a school newsletter, a flyer for the reunion: documents can go in your circle too. We show PDFs right in your circle. Every other kind of document is there to download and open in the program you normally use.

Which documents you can send, and how

  • From the website: PDFs; Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files; OpenDocument files (from LibreOffice or OpenOffice), RTF files, and plain text files. Choose Photo, video, or file and pick the file. Anything you type in the box first appears underneath it, as with a photo.
  • By email: PDFs, and Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files. Email is the better way for a larger document.
  • By text: the same kinds as email, but only small ones. Phone networks are much stricter about documents than photos, so anything over about half a megabyte won't get through by text.

Opening a document someone shared

Everyone sees a panel with the file's name, kind, and size. For a PDF, choose Open PDF to read it in your circle, turn pages, or zoom in. Choose Download to save a copy of any document. If a PDF can't be previewed, you can still download it.
