A change you didn't make
Got an email about a change to your account that you didn't make? Here are the steps to secure your account and tell us about it.
If something changed that you didn't do
We email you whenever your password, passkeys, two-factor authentication, email address, phone number, or Apple sign-in changes. If you didn't make the change, work through these steps. Each one only takes a minute or two.
- Change your password. Go to Your Profile, find Keeping your account safe and tap Change your password. If you can't sign in, tap Forgot password? on the sign-in page and we'll email you a link to choose a new one. If your account has no password (you sign in with a passkey, Google, or Apple), you can skip this step, or add one from the same section by tapping Set a password.
- Make sure everyone else is signed out. A new password does this for you: it signs you out on every other device, so anyone using the old one is signed out too.
- Check your passkeys. On Your Profile, find Passkeys. If you see a passkey you don't recognize, tap Remove next to it, then Remove again to confirm.
- Check two-factor authentication. If you use it, we ask for a code from your authenticator app each time you sign in. It can't be turned on or off from your profile, so if we told you it changed and it wasn't you, say so in the last step.
- Check your email addresses and phone numbers. On Your Profile, find Staying in touch. Tap Remove next to any email address or extra phone number you don't recognize. If the phone number on your account isn't yours, tap Change phone and enter your own.
- Tell us. Open our Contact Us page, choose Report a Problem as the category, and tell us what changed and roughly when. Complete the security check and tap Send Message. We'll look into it with you.
