Download a copy of your data

Request a copy of everything we have on file for you. We email you when it's ready, and the file waits on your profile for 7 days.

Your Data, Anytime

You have the right to a copy of your personal data. Here's how to get it:

  1. Go to Your Profile.
  2. Scroll down to Download my data.
  3. Tap Request my data.

We'll put together a file with your account information, albums, photos, and messages. When it's ready, we'll send you an email to let you know.

Picking up your file

Your file doesn't travel in the email. It waits for you on your own profile, where only you can reach it — so if that email is ever forwarded, or someone glances at your inbox, your memories stay yours.

  1. Open the email and tap Open your downloads.
  2. Sign in, if you aren't already.
  3. You'll land on Download my data on your profile. Tap Download your data, and your file starts downloading.

You don't have to wait for the email, or keep it. You can go to Download my data on your profile at any time and pick your file up from there.

Good to know

  • It can take a little while to prepare your file, especially if you have lots of photos and videos. We'll email you as soon as it's ready.
  • You can request a new download once every 24 hours.
  • Your file is kept for 7 days from the moment it is ready. The email tells you the exact day and time, and your profile shows it too. Those 7 days are counted from when your file was prepared rather than from when the email arrives, so it is worth picking it up soon after you hear from us. Once it has gone, just ask for a fresh copy from your profile — we'll prepare a new one right away.
  • Your profile always shows your most recent download, so if you have asked more than once, that is the one waiting for you.
  • Every now and then a file can't be included in the download — most often because a routine safety check on it hasn't finished yet. Your file lists any of these under Files We Couldn't Include, with a short note explaining each one.
  • Very occasionally a download doesn't finish. If that happens we'll tell you on the page rather than leaving you waiting, and you can request a new one straight away.
