How ShareLocket works, start to finish

Private family sharing, step by step

ShareLocket gives your family or group a private place to share photos, videos, and news. We call that place a circle. Here's how it works, from the first invitation to years of shared memories.

1. Start a circle

Starting a circle is free.

1. Sign up with your email, or with your Apple or Google account.
2. From your home page, choose Create a circle.
3. Give it a name everyone will recognize, like "The Ellis family" or "Sunday Dinners". You can change it any time.

Your circle is private from the first minute, and it comes with its own phone number and email address for posting. See Start a circle for your family or group.

2. Invite your people

Invite people by email or text message. Each person gets their own link, taps it once, adds a password, and they're in. There's no app to download.

• Everyone can post, not only the person who started the circle.
• The circle's administrators decide who is invited, and anyone can leave whenever they like.

3. Post from anywhere

Share photos, videos, stories, files, and voice notes the way that suits you:

• Text a photo, a video, or a message to the circle's phone number.
• Email a photo or a note to your own circle email address.
• Call the circle's number and talk. Your voice note is posted for everyone with a written transcript.
• Use the website to post, comment, and react.

We know a post is yours by the email address or phone number it comes from, so send from the ones on your account. See Share family photos by text or email.

4. Keep up your way

Everyone picks their own pace: an email for every post, one summary a day, or one summary a week with the photos, by text or email. Reply to anything to add a comment. See Choose how you hear from your circle.

5. Watch the archive grow

Everything your circle shares stays together in one private place. You can search it, see where photos were taken on a map, and look back by when something really happened, not just when it was posted.

6. Add the subscription when you want more

One subscription covers the whole circle, and only one person pays. Any member can add it, on day one or years later. With a subscription, your circle gets:

• Room for more people.
• Every post, back to the very first one. Without it, the circle shows the last 30 days.
• Albums to share outside the circle for special occasions.
• Digital picture frame support.

Nothing is deleted if a subscription ends. See What a circle subscription includes.
