How do notifications work?

The bell

The bell at the top of the page shows what's new for you on ShareLocket. When something is waiting, a number appears on it.

What the bell tells you about your circles

• New posts — when someone shares something in a circle you're in.
• New comments — when someone comments in a circle you're in.
• Reactions — when someone reacts to something you shared.
• Mentions and tags — when someone mentions you in a post or comment, or tags you.
• A deleted post — when the circle's owner or an admin deletes a post of yours, or a photo from one.
• A circle handed to you — when the owner leaves and chooses you to look after the circle.

You're never told about your own posts, comments, or reactions.

If you run a sharing album

The bell also tells you when someone posts or comments on a sharing album you run, when someone you invited joins it, and when a post is waiting for your approval.

Payment problems

If a payment for a circle's Premium doesn't go through, the bell tells you, so you can update your card. See When a Premium payment doesn't go through.

How to handle notifications

1. Tap the bell to open your notification list.
2. Tap any notification to go straight to it.
3. Use Mark as read if you've seen it but don't need to act right now.
4. Use Mark as unread if you want to come back to it later. Choose All on the notifications page to see items you have already read.

Opening the notification list doesn't make anything disappear. Your notifications stay until you decide what to do with them.

Grouping

When a lot happens in one circle at once, we gather it into one notification. For example, several new posts in the same circle can appear together as one line.

Email and text messages

You can also hear from your circles by email and text. If a lot happens at once, we gather it into one email rather than sending many.

Each circle has its own setting. To choose how often a circle emails or texts you, open the circle, choose Circle options, then Notifications. You can also find every circle in My Account under Emails and texts from your circles.
