Hand your circle to someone else
If you started a circle, choose who looks after it as you leave. Here's how, and what happens to Premium and to the sharing albums you made.
This is for a circle's owner, usually the person who started it. At the end, someone else in the circle will look after it, and you'll have left.
You hand a circle on as you leave it. Anyone else in the circle can take over. They don't need to be an admin first, and they don't need to accept.
Hand it over
- Open your circle, choose Circle options, then Settings.
- At the bottom of the page, under Leave this circle, choose Leave this circle.
- Under Who should look after this circle?, choose the person who'll take over.
- Choose Yes, hand it over and leave. If you change your mind, choose Stay in the circle instead.
They take over straight away, and you leave at the same moment. We let them know the circle is theirs to look after now. From then on they can do everything you could, from inviting people to changing the circle's settings. See Owner, admins, and members.
If someone's spot is paused, you can still choose them. Their spot comes back as they take over.
What happens to Premium
Handing the circle on doesn't move the payment, and whoever takes it on won't be charged.
- If you pay for Premium here, we cancel it at the end of your current paid period, and everyone keeps Premium until then. If it's paused or a payment is overdue, it ends as soon as you leave.
- If someone else pays, nothing changes for their payment.
Anyone in the circle can add Premium again later. See Who pays for Premium?
What happens to your sharing albums and posts
Sharing albums you made in the circle pass to the new owner, with the same photos, the same link, and the same people invited. Everything you shared in the circle stays there for everyone else.
If you're the only one in the circle
There's nobody to hand it to, so you can pause it or delete it instead. See How do I leave a circle?
